The Judiciary Act of 1868 set the number of supreme court justices to 9, and it has not changed since, but some have called for a new law to change the number, especially after the fall of Roe. This market will resolve to YES if a tenth judge is appointed to the US Supreme Court by January 1st 2026, and the market will resolve to NO if the number of justices remains at 9 (or somehow less) until January 1st 2026.

I probably won't be active here during 2026, so mods have full permission to resolve for me, and this market probably will not resolve unless a mod does so. The market is set to close on January 1st 2026.
