Background
The Super Bowl coin toss is a ceremonial event that occurs before every Super Bowl game. Historically, the results have been nearly evenly split, with heads occurring 28 times and tails 30 times across all Super Bowls. In recent years, tails has been more frequent, appearing six times in the last 10 years, though heads has won three of the last four tosses.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve to YES if the Super Bowl LVIII (58) pre-game coin toss lands on heads, and NO if it lands on tails. The result will be based on the official NFL determination of the coin toss outcome.
Considerations
Current betting odds are set at -104 for both heads and tails, reflecting the true 50/50 probability of the outcome
While some theories suggest commemorative coins might not be perfectly balanced, empirical testing has shown no significant bias
Past results have no bearing on future coin flips, as each toss is an independent event
