Go 80's 90's. That was the high point.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen any specific recommendations?

@ShakedKoplewitz Particular ones from no specific time that folks have been known to be impressed by... Herman Hesse Steppenwolf. Thomas Pynchon Gravity's Rainbow. John Irving The World According To Garp. Nicholson Baker Vox (pornish). Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Macroscope by Piers Anthony (ignore his reputation, Macroscope is hus first novel into which he poured his whole soul into and decided after that to just write for kicks and money).

What books have you liked in the past?

@Garzahd so of things I discovered in the last five years, I think things that would qualify for this would be Naomi novik's temeraire and spinning silver (discovered 2021) and Maybe the lightbringer series (discovered 2023). Deep river (2020) is also borderline. So a prior of about 50% I guess.

@ShakedKoplewitz If you have not read them I would recommend Naomi novik's a deadly education and uprooted. I liked those about as well as spinning silver (my favorite book of its year). I would also recommend the warrior's apprentice and curse of chalion by Lois McMaster bujold as well as the one who eats monsters by Casey Matthews. If you can say some other books you have liked or not liked I can rec more or order these by how likely I think you are to enjoy them.

@Garzahd I've read most of these! Not one who eats monsters though, I'll put it on the list
