Every prime minister since David Cameron has used a unique lecturn for Downing Street announcements to the press. Before the end of 2024, will Keir have swapped out Sunak's for a new one?

@kevor I think there is a misunderstanding here.

Maybe someone in the comment section can help me understand before we resolve.

THIS lecturn, claimed in all the posts by @kevor below, does not seem to match the one that Sunak is using here:

It has the same general shape, but look at the wood grain, it's definitely not the same. Neither the top nor the trunk match.

Can people show me evidence that Sunak used the Keir one regularly?

@Eliza Here is Starmer on 6 July 2024, "live"

He's using the same lecturn pictured throughout this entire thread.

Here's Sunak on 5 July 2024, he IS using the same one Starmer used on the 6th (and all the other photos in this market):

But someone should at least show that THIS one was used regularly by Sunak.

@mods inactive creator, resolves NO

October!

opened a Ṁ1 NO at 47% order

Every prime minister since David Cameron

It’s a Tory thing

Still using Sunak's lecturn as of 01/08.

bought Ṁ50 NO

I upgraded this to Basic for a bit more liquidity.

So, as far as I can tell from the AP photo archive, with all the international travel the last time Starmer stood behind a lecturn at No. 10 was on 6 July, before this market began.

Interestingly (or not, lol), during a visit to Cheshire last Friday he was pictured in front of a very similar lecturn to Sunak's, with slightly thicker bezels on the front. This won't matter for our resolution here, though.

Asking the important questions!

Just to clarify what I mean by new.

If Starmer swaps out Sunak's for any lecturn that has been previously associated with a PM, as per Wikipedia, the market won't resolve as YES.

If he regularly uses a unique one that's not been associated with any PM (whether it is commissioned and built for him, purchased, or found in a civil service cupboard) I will resolve as YES.

And by regularly, let's say two appearances in a row with a new lecturn.
