Will the next pope be based?

I will rely on Jack Posobiec (https://x.com/JackPosobiec) and J.D. Vance for the resolution. Both are practicing Catholics vocally critical of the far left activist Bergoglio.

They must consider the new pope's overall policies as based (not necessarily, but preferably using that word), it is not sufficient that they refer to any single specific thing the pope does as based (though it will be a strong indicator that the pope is, in fact, based).

You may consider Vance's Munich speech as the gold standard of basedness.

Are you yourself Catholic? If so, do you believe in papal infallibility? If so, do you consider Pope Francis an antipope? If so, who do you consider the legitimate pope?

@TheAllMemeingEye I have the paperwork done, but the rest is ridiculous, only slightly less so than the community of rationalizers and the AI cult are. I like the buildings though, the smells, and the fact that it's maintained institutional continuity since the time of the Roman Empire. Libs messing it up is like destroying museum exhibits to me, I guess

@skibidist what does having the paperwork done mean?

@TheAllMemeingEye Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and never formally apostatized. I never really wanted any of that, but it makes me eligible to be elected pope by the next conclave, so there is that.

@skibidist

Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and never formally apostatized. I never really wanted any of that

Would I be correct in inferring that you were made to do these in childhood by family rather than independently choosing to as an adult?

it makes me eligible to be elected pope

Time to add yourself to the next pope market haha

Yes, exactly. Hated it so much back then, but am not unhappy about it now, and can see I future where I come back to the church in some way. Not the worst community to belong to and American Catholics especially are pretty based. Pretty sure I will never have any religious/spiritual beliefs though, it's completely ridiculous to me and has been since I was, like, 9.

Hard to believe now how strong the pressure to conform was back where I grew up. Things have also really changed in the last decade, even the priest from my home village who had been ordained with so much fanfare, was recently forced to resign after his second life on the gay/bisexual casual sex scene was exposed

Time to add yourself to the next pope market haha

lmao

Would certainly be interesting if Elon Musk tried to buy the papacy. Has been known to happen down the centuries

@JussiVilleHeiskanen That's a fantastic idea for another market, will elon influence or try to influence the next conclave

@skibidist there would be a nontrivial chance of backfiring

bought Ṁ100 YES from 47% to 52%
bought Ṁ7 NO

I dare not trade large, because I think people might trade based on the title rather than the description

@JussiVilleHeiskanen Do you think people's standards of basedness are as loose as Bergoglio's adherence to principles?

@skibidist my guess is people will not care about anything but that he carries two sticks and wears a hat

So AND not OR ?

@JussiVilleHeiskanen It will be both or neither, but in the improbable case that they have different views views, PROB 50%.
